Abstract:288 samples of mature Pinus tabulaeformis Carr.,which belong to 12 varieties and 36 stands and collected from four provinces:Shanxi,Hebei,Shaanxi and Gansu were analysed by GC,GC/MS technicals and regression methods.The results showed that:1)with the increasing of elevation,the total number of terpenes contained decreased,2)there were certain correlation between environmental factors and relative contents of some terpenes，3)there was no relationship existing between the relative contents of any single terpene with the tree height growth,but synthetical correlation might exist.
