Abstract:Specimens of Paratingia and Paratingiostachya were collected from the Shanxi (Shansi) Formation of the early Early Permian in the Wuda area of Inner Mongolia, China, including Paratingia datongensis Zhang and Paratingiostachya cathaysiana gen. et sp. nov. A pair of specimens of Paratingiostachya are well preserved together with those of Paratingia datongensis, which show Paratingiostachya in close association with Paratingia datongensis. Therefore, Paratingiostachya cathaysiana gen. et sp. nov. probably is referred to the reproductive organ of Paratingia datongensis. The discovery of Paratingiostachya cathaysiana gen. Et sp. nov. may provide some important evidences for the geographical distribution, classification and evolution of the genus Paratingia.
