According to the main morphological characters，  Spongiocarpella Yakovl．et  Ulzijkh．should be reduced to the genus Chesneya Lindl．ex Endl． The present author had  examined all available specimens and then transferred all species  (nine species and one subspecies)  of Spongiocarpella into Chesneya． At the same time，four species and one subspecies are reduced，and a new grade is proposed．
