Marker-assisted selection molecular mapping and cloning
of the rice blast resistance genes

Abstract: The interaction between the rice resistance(R) genes and the AVR genes of fungal pathogen
Magnaporthe grisea is one of the model systems of the researches on plant molecular pathology and disease
resistance breeding worldwide. Molecular mapping, cloning and marker-assisted selection of the rice R genes
are the important field in this system. The paper briefly reviewed the progress of studies on this aspect to
provide the interest information for rice disease resistance breeding.
Key words: rice (Oryza sativa L.); the blast resistance genes; marker-assisted selection; molecular mapping;
