Abstract:In order to evaluate the impact of the farming methods and the various habitats of tea gardens on population density of tea geometrids Ectropis oblique and its main natural enemies, and to make use of cultivating techniques and habitats regulation to restrict tea geometrids and to assist its natural enemies, a survey of tea geometrids and its main enemies, two species Apanteles and six species of spiders, from ten plots, one plot being 1m2 tea clump, respectively from an organic tea garden (O), a non-pollution tea garden (N) and a common tea garden (C) was conducted in the southern Anhui Province from July of 2002 to July of 2003, at intervals of 7-10 days. The results showed that the total population of tea geometrids was 227 (O), 8733 (N) and 4769 head (C). The total population of braconid wasps was 67, 465 and 281 head (C). And the total population of spiders was 1669, 1150 and 1077 head (C). Another survey of tea geometrids, the two species of braconid wasps and the six species of spiders, from ten plots, respectively from an organic tea garden (O), an organic conversion tea garden (OC), a non-pollution tea garden (N) and a common tea garden (C) was completed in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province from October of 2004 to September of 2006, at intervals of one month. The results showed that the average population per month: tea geometrids’ was 0.9 (O), 1.4 (OC), 1.4 (N) and 1.9 head (C), braconid wasps’was 10.1 (O), 12.3 (OC), 11.5 (N) and 10.4 head (C), and spiders’was 9.3 (O), 9.5 (OC), 9.4 (N) and 9.9 head (C). The difference in population of tea geometrids, braconid wasps or spiders from ten tea garden habitats locating in the famous "Xihulongjing Tea" original production area (Hangzhou, Zhejiang), which were investigated from the year of 2005 to 2006 at intervals of 5 days, was distinct with the significance level of P<0.05. In the four tea gardens in Shaoxing or in ten tea garden habitats in"Xihulongjing Tea" original production area, braconid wasps followed tea geometrid closely.
