HunanProvince,tobetterdevelopandutilizethewildgroundcoverplantsresources,andtoenrichcity
gardenplantgroups,thefieldinvestigationanddatacolectionwerecarriedoutinthisstudy.Theresults
indicatedthattherewere534speciesofwildgroundcoverplantsinXinning,belongingto101familiesand
250genera,accountingforthe42.26%,24.15%and16.91%ofthevascularplantsfamilies,generaand
speciesinthearea,respectively.Theseplantsincluded9families,11generaand25speciesofpterido
phyte,76families,200generaand433speciesofdicotyledon,16families,39generaand76speciesof
monocotyledonousplants,whereastherewasnogymnosperms.Theherbwasadominantgroupinlife
form,accountingfor44.19%ofthetotalspecies,whereasfujimoto,shrubs,fernsandbambooshadless
proportion,accountingforthe31.84%,18.73%,4.68%and0.56%ofthetotalspecies,respectively.
Theerecttype,windingtypeandclimbingvineofgroundcoverplantshaddifferentproportions,andac
countedforthe59.36%,31.84%and8.80%ofthetotalspecies,respectively.Mostofthewildground
coverplanthadgoodornamentalcharacteristics,wideadaptabilityandstrongresistance.
