Abstract:ThesteamexplosionpretreatmentwasappliedtoSalixchipsandtheefectswereevaluatedby
theenzymatichydrolysis.SteampretreatedSalixenzymatichydrolysiswasoptimizedbyaresponse
surfacemethodology(RSM).Theresultsindicatedthatthebesthydrolysisyieldswereatainedwhen
thesteamexplosionofthematerialwasmadeat35MPafor300s.ABoxBehnkendesignoftheRSM
wasemployedtostudytheefectsoftemperature,enzymeconcentration,andpHonpretreatedSalix
enzymatichydrolysis.Theoptimumconditionsforenzymatichydrolysisweretemperature535℃,
celulaseloading298FPU/gsubstrate,pH48,respectively.Aquadraticpolynomialequationwas
obtainedforenzymatichydrolysisbymultipleregressionanalysisusingRSM.Theexperimentalresults
wereinagreementwiththatofthepredictedmodel.Undertheoptimumconditions,thehighestSalix
hydrolysisyieldswerereachedto8792%.
