Abstract:The study of the oedogoniaceous algae in China started as early as in 1899 by Borge, But, however, in the immense volume of C. C. Jao‘s 《Monographia Oedogoniales Sinicae》 published in 1979, only 2 of the 3 genera, namely, Oedogonium and Bulbochaete had been thoroughly studied. The third one, genus Oedocladium was lacking at that moment. Fortunately the first author of this paper discovered it in the campus of Hubei University, Wuhan, Hubei, China. It had been examined and accordingly named as Oedocladiumprescottii Islam.
