Abstract:The relative data from 800 eggs in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 188 hatchlings in 2007 were collected in The National Natural Reserve of Chinese Alligator in Anhui. Based on these data, we generated the regression equations on the volume(V) and weight(W) of eggs, i.e. V=0.537LB2+1.151(R2=0.960), W=0.593LB2-0.541(R2=0.975), and their estimated formula as V=0.553LB2 (F=0.267,P=0.606>0.05)with less than 3% error, W=0.585LB2 (F=0003,P=0.960>0.05)with less than 2% error, respectively. We also discussed the effect on the hatching success and reproductive success by estimating the volume and weight of eggs. The result showed the significantly positive influence of egg volume and weight on both hatching success and reproductive success. The larger eggs seem to be more likely to produce successful hatchlings.
