Abstract:A field experiment was conduced to study on the application of nitrogen fertilizer on ginger growth The results showed that the colony of ginger developed rapidly with nitrogen fertilizer increase at seedling stage, but too much nitrogen was not favorable to the growth of ginger at vigorous growth stage, and application of N 600kg/hm2 on ginger growth was suitable The seasonal changes of colonial photosynthesis(CPn)with different nitrogen rates was in a single peak curve, the diurnal changes of CPn was a double peak curve at seedling stage and in a single peak curve at vigorous growth stage The yield and qualities of ginger was significantly affected by nitrogen level, the yield of ginger was 45330kg/hm2 in application of N 600kg/hm2, which was 61.1% and 23.7% higher than the control and application of N 1200kg/hm2, respectively The ginger yield with high nitrogen level decreased due to economic coefficient reduced
