STUDIES ON PHYSIOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL CHARACTOR IN SUSPENSION CULTURE OF BERBERIS JULIANAE SCHNEID CELLS——Ⅱ. The changes of dry matter accumulation, protein and isoperoxidase patterns
Abstract:This paper reports the changes of dry matter accumulation and soluble protein as well as isoperoxidase patterns during the suspension culture period of Berberis julianae Schneid cells. The course of dry matter accumulation can be divided into four stages:1. lag stage, 2. the slow weight increase stage, 3, linear weight increase stage, 4. decreased and stationary stage. After inoculation of cells to fresh medium the protein biosynthesis increased rapidly within 2 to 5 days, And then it decreased gradually. The changes of isoperoxidase patterns were as follows: There were two bands in the stage 1 and 4, and their activities were relatively low, In the stage 2 and3, there were three bands and their activities were also high. The changing of isoperoxidase patterns and their activities at different stages was showed to be in accordant with the inereasment of the dry matter accumulation. It was suggested that there exist an interrelation between them.
