Abstract:Begun from the early spring to the autumn in 1986, effects of different raising methods(rockwool culture and soil culture) on the growth rhythm of the cucumber seedlings were studied. It was investigated that the growth rates of dried weights of seedlings raised by rockwool culture were two times higher than those of soil cultural methods (control). The regression equations of dry matter of cucumber seedlings on rockwool culture and soil culture were:rockwool culture soil cultureLnW=6.0376+0.1068t LnW=5.8500+0.0960tThe most significances as F value are tested. The dried weights of roots, leaves and shoots raised by rockwool culture were obviously three-four times, two times and one and half times higher than those by soil culture The potential uses of rockwool culture for the future were discussed in this paper.
