Abstract:Aiming to determine antifeedant properties or repellent qualities of higher fungi against insects, 71 species of mushrooms and toadstools were screened using Spodeptera littoralis as a model insect. Reference tests were performed by offering an isolated larvae choising between a fungus-containing rearing medlium and a reference one. Among the 71 fungal species screened, 24 were fo und to show anti feeding or repellent properties as they were significantly rijected compared to the reference medium. A table of rejection of fungi by Spodetera ldtoralis is provided.
