Abstract:In this paper 12 Fl hybrids of four combinations were compared with their parents in morphology and peroxidase isozymes, the results indicated that: (1) Certain morphological characters may be used for initial identification of Fl hybrids. (2) Nine of all hybrids display both parental bands except one peculiar band of C. chrysantha, and possess "hybrid" - bands not observed in either parent; zymograms of the two other plants are the same as female par-ents, possibly not true hybrids. (3) The Fl hybrids produced from C. chrysantha, C. reticulata or C. pitardii var. yunnanica express various zymograms. Based on the above, we propose that it is a much effective method to identify Fl hybrids by using peroxidase isozyme variations.
