Abstract:The family Stachyuraceae is monotypic, consisting of only Genus Stachyurus, which is confined to the temperate regions of eastern Asia. This genus comprises 16 species and 8 varieties, of which 11 species and 7 varieties (including 2 new species and 4 new varieties) occurring in China. The family may be originated in the ancient Sikang-Yunnan tableland, from which they spread out, extending westward into Burma, India (Assam), Nepal and Bhutan, and extending eastward through southwestern and southern China, Taiwan of eastern China to Ryukyu Islands and Japan.
