Abstract:Rabdosia criocalyx produces a hypotensive action on anesthetized rabbits, but the action docs not last long. It also has a relaxing action on several isolated smooth muscles, and relieves spasmodic contraction of rabbit‘s isolated aorta strip caused by noradrenaline and hyperpotassium. It can also antagonize spasmodic contraction of isolated bovine Willis arteries caused by 5-HT (serotonin) and hyperpotassium. The spasmolytic action shows apparent dose-effect relationship.
