patches, patches 0.3~1.2 cm broad, 1.0 mm deep, margin appendiculate. Context whitish, rubescent-nigrescent
on exposure. Hymenophore blackish, tubes blackish, adnexed and depressed on the stipe. Pores angular, 1~2
per mm. Stipe 4~6.5 cm long, 0.4~0.5 cm thick, apex thickened to 0.7 cm thick, minutely velutinous under
lens, concolorous with pileus, remnants of veil pressent at apex. Spores subglobose 9.0~11.2 7.6~9.4 ìm,
subcristed, rarely forming meshes. Basidia 2~4-spored, 18~43 11.2~13.2 ìm. Pleurocystidia fusoid, dark

Strobilomyces subnudus J. Z. Ying by the characters as mentioned above (Z. J. Ying & Q. M. Ma,1985; Z. J.
Ying, 1986).

The Argus Brown pileus set with blackish appressed scales, without rimose-areolate patches, the nearly
smooth stipe and the medium sized reticulate spores are distinguished characters of this new species. It can be
separated from known species with scaly pileus in Strobilomyces (see Boediun, 1961; Heim & Pereau, 1964;
McNabb, 1967; Singer, 1945, 1970; Zang, 1997).
