Abstract:Cordyceps sinensis is a unique resource as traditional Chinese medicine with precious value in Tibetan Plateau of China. However, spatial distribution of the resource was still unknown very clearly. This paper intended to map the distribution of Cordyceps sinensis resource in Nakchu region in Tibet, using an approach of GIS spatial analysis. The characteristics of Cordyceps sinensis were considered with habitat conditions for the mapping. Our mapping result showed that Cordyceps sinensis in Nakchu was mainly distributed in Eastern Regions, with an area of 49300 km2, accounting for 1254% of the total. Verification with field investigation confirmed the accuracy of the mapping approach. This indicated the feasibility of applying GIS technology in monitoring the spatial dynamics of Cordyceps sinensis resource in future.
