Abstract:Efficient callus induction and regeneration procedure were established using growing tip of octoploid triticale ‘h739‘ at glume differentiation stage as explants.Embryonic somaclones were selected.Extensive somaclonal morphological variation was observed in regenerants of HC-4,HC-5 and HC-0 lines after 446 days‘ subculture.Variant characters included fertility, height, heading date, spike shape, hairy neck.Evaluation of the SC2 progeny indicated strong genetic basis for these variants except heading date.Segregation data suggested that homozygous and recessive mutations had occurred in SCl generation.More variations after 852 days‘ subculture were observed. However, grain fertility showed a decline and adverse mutations increased. It is seems that the influence of subculture times was significant in the somaclonal variation.
