Abstract:14 T1 and T2 transgenic tobacco lines with apidaecin, shiva-I and apidaecin+shiva-I genes were evaluated for bacterial wilt resistance and agronomic trait both in greenhouse and field plot, 15 days after inoculation with R.solanacearum under greenhouse conditions. All three kinds of transgenic plants showed enhanced resistance. The transgenic plants harboring apidaecin+shiva-I cassette showed the highest disease resistance among all three groups of transgenic plants. Five T2 transgenic lines (B43-5-4, B43-5-1, B43-5-2, B43-5-3 and B43-4-1) decreased disease indices by 21%-70% in field trial. In the meantime, they exhibited no significant difference in agronomic traits and quality by comparing with original cultivar K326.
