Abstract:An experiment was carried out to study the effect of different fertili zers applied as basic and top-dressing fertilizer on yield and quality of barle y leaves specially used for processing of Barley Green. The results showed that t he total fresh leaf yield of three harvests was significantly higher in the orga nic fertilizer as basic dressing and chemical fertilizer as top-dressing after c utting of above-ground parts treatment (i.e. treatment 4, OF+CF) than that in o r ganic fertilizer as basic dressing and seaweed fertilizer as top-dressing(i.e. t reatment 2, OF+SF) and organic fertilizer as basic dressing and bacterial fertil izer as top-dressing(i.e. treatment 3, OF+BF) treatments, while there was no si g nificant difference relative to the chemical fertilizer as both basic dressing a nd top-dressing treatment (i.e. treatment 5, CF). Meanwhile, some qualities, su c h as contents of protein, Vc, chlorophyll and hydrolyze amino acid, SOD enzyme a ctivity were higher in treatment 4, compared with the other 4 treatments. There was higher dry matter accumulation in the plants of the treatment 5, while lower in Vc content compared with those of the treatment 4. Seaweed fertilizer or bac terial fertilizer resulted in lower yield than organic fertilizer as basic dress ing and chemical fertilizer as top-dressing. This result indicated that the fer t ilizer practice of treatment 4 was much more beneficial to improve the quality a nd yield for the production of barley applied for barley green, compared with th e other 4 treatments.
