Abstract:The results of wood mechanical tests of Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lancelata (Lam. ) Hook) belonging to 16 sampls show that in static bending, toughness, shear parallel to the grain and cleavage wood is more resistent to a force acting on its tangential sections than on its radial sections to a different extent except compressive force perpendicular to the grain. The cause of the difference induced is analysed.
