Abstract:Acanthochlamys once assumed to be a member of the Amaryllida- ceae was studied on its sociological characteristics and the pollen morphology. The characters observed in pollen, that are quite different from both Amaryllidaceae and Iridaceae, are supporting the determination tentatively made by Prof. C. Y. Wu as regarding Acanthochlamys to be a relict member of Velloziaceae that are new to E. Asia and also to China. It may be a very reduced form of that family found only in Hengduan mountains from reparian vegetation to Kobresia meadow according to the field observation.
