Abstract:Conditions appropriate for isolation and culture of protoplasts from cell suspension cultures of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L. ) were investigated. Protoplasts with high yields and high quality were obtained by treating cells with a mixture of cellulase, macerozyme R-10 and driselase, or other enzyme combinations. Protoplasts were cultured in MS liquid medium or solid agar medium. Callus was obtained from the cultured protoplasts.
