Abstract:Plant long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in a wide range of biological processes through various mechanisms. Although the lncRNAs related researches are limited, recent progresses have shown that lncRNAs are crucial in regulating plant development especially in regulating reproductive growth. Plant reproductive growth is one of the most fundamental development processes, and is the critical step in crop breeding, thus it is important to explore reproductive development related lncRNAs in plants. In this review, we summarized the current knowledge of lncRNAs discoveries in plants including their feature analysis, with an emphasizing on the plant flowering and sexual reproduction related lncRNAs and the regulatory mechanisms by which lncRNAs regulating plant reproduction.
