Abstract:Cold is one of the major abiotic stress that adversely affect plant growth and development. Phytohormones play an essential role in physiological changes and gene expression regulation during cold stress. In this review, the mechanism of phytohormones (i.e. salicylic acid, abscisic acid, ethylene, jasmonic acid, gibberellins acid and cytokinin) in the plant responses to cold was described. Some ambiguous problems in phytohormones research during plant response to cold were discussed, which will provide references for further studies on enhancing the cold resistance of plant by phytohormones regulation.
