showedthat,biomassindex(dryandfreshweightofshootandroot),leafrelativewatercontent(RWC)
andSPADvaluedecreasedafterthePEG6000treatment,antioxidantenzyme(SOD,POD,CAT)activi
ties,malondialdehyde(MDA)contentandosmoticadjustmentsubstance(solubleprotein,proline)accu
mulationincreased,whenPEG6000concentrationreached15%.Theindicessignificantlydifferentfrom
control;ThetreatmentbyadditionofDCPTAtothehydroponicsolutioninducedanincreaseindrought
toleranceduringsubsequentexposureto15% PEG6000waterstress.Thiswasevidencedbytheindices
(biomass,RWC,SPAD,antioxidantenzymeactivities,MDAcontentandosmoticadjustmentsubstances)
ofmaizeseedling.WecanconcludedpreliminarilythattheappropriatePEG6000concentrationforthei
dentificationofmaizedroughttoleranceinseedlingstagewas15%;DCPTAcouldenhancedroughttoler
anceofmaizeseedlingbymodulatinggrowth,increasingosmoticadjustmentsubstanceaccumulationand
antioxidantenzymeactivities.Theappropriateconcentrationwas15and20mg/L.
