cultivarLanjianNO.3astheresearchobject,thisstudyanalyzeddynamicchangesinpodmorphological,
moisturecontent,surfacestructureofventralsuture,anatomicalstructureofventralsuturecrosssection
duringpoddevelopmentinordertoexplorethepodshatteringmechanismof犞.狊犪狋犻狏犪andprovidetheoret
icalbasisfordeterminingitsoptimalseedharvestingtimeinproduction.Theresultsshowedthat:(1)
WhenthepodofLanjianNO.3turnedtolightbrownatabout25-30daysafterpeakanthesis,ithadcom
pletedphysiologicalmaturityanditssizeanddryweighthadreachedthehighestwiththemoisturecontent
hadreducedtothelowest.Acrackappearedinthepodventralsutureat25daysafterpeakanthesisandit
separatedcompletelyat35daysafterpeakanthesis.(2)Theabscissionlayercelsbegantodisintegrateat
20daysafterpeakanthesis.At25daysafterpeakanthesis,altheparenchymacelsofendocarp,meso
carpandexocarpbegantolosewaterandshrinkwhereintheportionofendocarpparenchymacelsbeganto
break.Theabscissionlayercelsandthefolowingparenchymacelsdisintegratedcompletely.Theinside
celwalsofexternalvalvemargincelsbrokebuttheoutsidecelwalswhichabnormalthickenedstilre
mainedintactandconnectedtwofruitvalveswhichmadethepoddonotcrack.Duringtheperiodfrom25
to30daysafterpeakanthesis,theparenchymacelsofendocarp,mesocarpandexocarplostwatercom
pletelyandtheircelwalsshranktogether.Atthesametimetheoutsidecelwalsofexternalvalvemar
gincelsbrokeintotwopartsandthetwofruitvalvesofthepodcracked.Theresearchshowsthattheop
timalharvesttimeofLanjianNO.3seedswastheperiodfrom25to30daysafterpeakanthesiswhenthe
podturnedtolightbrown.Theabscissionlayercelsandmachinetensilewhichgeneratedbycel water
losswerethemaincausesof犞.狊犪狋犻狏犪podcrack.Conjecturethatthethickeningandfusedcelwalsofex
ternalvalvemargincelswerethekeystructureresistanttopodshatteringprobably.
