Abstract:TheefectsofplantingdensityongrowthandeconomicbenefitofMassonpine(Pinusmassoniana)plan
tationwereanalyzedwiththedataof21yearoldplantingdensityexperimentstand(theplantingdensitieswere
1667,3333,5000,and6667trees·hm-2respectively),theresultsshowedthattheplantingdensityhadsignif
icantefectonstandgrowthandstructure.Withtheincreaseofstanddensity,thediameteratbreastheight
(DBH),thesingletreevolumeandthecrowndiameterdecreased,buttheratiooftreeheight/DBHincreased.
However,thediferenceofthesefactorsdecreasedwithstandageincreasingat16yearold.Thestandvolumeand
thetimberyieldincreasedwithstanddensityincreasingatthejuvenilestage,butthediferenceofthesefactorsde
creasedwhenstandenteredmiddleagedstage.For21yearoldstand,thetimberyieldsofthefourtreatmentsof
plantingdensitywere30013,30994,30319and31332m3·hm-2respectively.Thepercentagesofsmaldi
ametertreesandtheyieldofsmaldiameterlogsincreasedwiththeincreaseofstanddensity.Withstandagein
creasing,thecorelationbetweenNPVandstanddensitytransformedfrompositivetonegative.Withtheincreaseof
plantingdensity,theeconomicmatureageadvanced.Byasyntheticanalysisofyield,economicevaluationand
growthlawofMassonpineplantation,theoptimalplantingdensityforproducingpulpwoodorsmaldiametertimber
