Abstract:Responsesurfacemethodologywasusedtooptimizemicrowaveassistedextractionofflavonoids
fromSpirodelapolyrhiza(L.)Schleid.Basedonsinglefactortests,BoxBehnkencentralcompositeex
perimentdesignwascariedoutwiththreecorelativefactors,i.e.,solidliquidratio,ethanolconcentra
tionandmicrowavepower.Responsesurfaceanalysiswasusedtodeterminetheefectofprimefactorson
theyieldofflavonoidsfromSpirodelapolyrhiza(L.)Schleid.Resultsshowedthattheyieldofflavonoids
fromSpirodelapolyrhiza(L.)Schleidwas4.14%.Undertheoptimalcondition,thesolidliquidratio
was1∶17,theethanolconcentrationwas62% andthemicrowavepowerwas500Wfor9min.Antioxi
dantactivitieswereevaluatedbyusing1,1diphenyl2picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)radicalinvitro.Theresult
showedthattheDPPHradicalscavengingactivityoftheflavonoidswasstrongerthanthatofvitaminCand
2,6ditertbutyl4methylphenolonthesameconcentration.
