全 文 :In 1986, Wang[1] described Delphinium yulung-
shanicum W. T. Wang on the basis of two collections,
C. Z. Bao 63-20455 (Fig. 1: A, B) and S. W. Yu s.n.
(Fig. 2: D), from Yulong Shan (also well known as
Likiang Snow Range), Lijiang, northwestern Yunnan,
China, with the former being designated as the holo-
type. In 1997, on the basis of a collection from Yulong
Shan again, i.e. J. F. Rock 10817 (Fig. 1: C, D), Wang
and Warnock[2] described D. grandilimbum W. T. Wang
& M. J. Warnock.
Upon careful examination of the type material
of Delphinium yulungshanicum and D. grandilimbum
we found that the two species are not essentially
different from each other. The stems are retrorsely
puberulent proximally, glabrescent distally; the leaves
are pentagonal, 3-cleft; the inflorescence rachis
is subglabrous; the pedicels are distally sparsely
spreading puberulent; the spur of sepals are straight
or slightly recurved; the carpels number 3, densely
adpressed yellowish-brown hirsute. In particular, the
petiole of their stem leaves is more or less vaginate at
base (Fig. 1: A–D; Fig. 2: D).

摘要: 通过查阅标本和野外观察,发现根据采自云南西北部丽江玉龙山标本描述的玉龙山翠雀花(Delphinium yulungshanicum
W. T. Wang)和硕片翠雀花(D. grandilimbum W. T. Wang & M. J. Warnock)实际上属于目前仅知在该山体有分布的鞘柄翠雀花(D.
coleopodum Hand.-Mazz.)的较小个体,故将它们处理为鞘柄翠雀花的异名。

Abstract: Both herbarium and field observations have shown that Delphinium yulungshanicum W. T. Wang and
D. grandilimbum W. T. Wang & M. J. Warnock, both described from Yulong Shan, Lijiang, northwestern Yunnan,
China, are no more than a diminutive form of D. coleopodum Hand.-Mazz., a species currently known only from
Yulong Shan. We therefore reduce them to the synonymy of D. coleopodum.

Delphinium coleopodum Hand.-Mazz., a species
described by Handel-Mazzetti[3] in 1931 from Yulong
Shan and currently known only from this mountain, is
characterized by, among other characters, the petiole
of stem leaves vaginate at base[3–7]. In fact, the specific
epithet “coleopodum” refers to this feature (“cole-”
meaning knife sheath in Greek; -podum meaning
-footed or -based in Greek). Both herbarium and field

observations of D. coleopodum have shown that this
species is highly variable in the stature (ranging from
12–45 cm) and concomitantly in the flower number
(ranging from 1–16) (Figs. 2– 4). On the eastern flank
of Yu Long Shan, this species is very common at
altitudes of 3000 –3700 m, growing in meadows or
grassy slopes. It is clear that both D. yulungshanicum
and D. grandilimbum are no more than a diminutive
