Abstract:Postharvest fruit diseases have produced a severe effect on the storage and quality of fruits. In the past, fungicides were used to control the diseases, but now, they have been restricted or curtailed because of environmental pollution and pathogen resistance to many fungicides. The biocontrol of postharvest diseases (BCPD) of fruits is increasingly concerned as a effective and alternative management with its stability, safety and controllable character. This review introduces the uniqueness of postharvest system, the screening methods antagonists, the management of enhancement of biocontrol, and the future prospects and importance of biocontrol of postharvest fruit diseases, and exhibits the availability and potential of the biocontrol, and provides the important reference to the future development of new biocontrol products.
