Abstract:The effects of titanium on photosynthetic characteristics of wheat seedlings were studied in this paper. The experimental results showed that the contents of chlorophyll and carotenoid in unit fresh weight of leaves from wheat seedlings which seeds were soaked in titanium solution of different concentration for 12 hours were more than those of the control. At the same time, the capability of absorption light energy of chloroplasts containing equal chlorophyll. PSII activity, the efficiency of primary conversion of light energy of PSII and the efficiency of potential photosynthetic quantum conversion of a leaf were raised by titanium of different concentration. In addition, the capability of excitation energy distribution between PSII and PSI regulated by Mg2+ could be also raised by titanium. The experimental results still indicated that the effects of 5mg/kg titanium were the best for improving wheat photosynthetic functions. Owing to titanium being able to improve plant photosynthetic functions, it will have fine prospects for practical application to agricultural production.
