No.3’weretreatedusingthe60Coγirradiationoffivedosestodeterminetheoptimalmutagenicdoseby
theanalysesofsprigsurvivalrateofeachradiationdose.Expectedmutanttraitsincludingleafwidth,
plantheight,stoloninternodelengthanddiameteraswelasturfqualities,suchasdensity,coverage,col
our,uniformity,greenperiod,andoveralqualityweremeasured.Theresultsindicatedthatthesurvival
ratesofzoysiagrass‘LanyinNo.3’decreasedwiththeincreaseofirradiationdose,thesuitableirradiation
dosewas53Gy.Theleafbreadth,plantheight,stoloninternodelengthanddiameterofmutant“801”
weresignificantlylowerthanthatofcontrol,whileturfdensitywassignificantlyhigherthanthatofcon
trol;Mutant“1101”hadstrongoverwinteringabilitywithupto315daysofgreenperiod,13dayslonger
thanthecontrol.Comprehensiveanalysesindicatedthattheturfqualitiesofmutants“801”and“1101”
wereimprovedandbothmutantshadbettercharacteristics.
