Abstract:Anthers of Oenanthe javanica D.C at different stages of sporogenous cell, microspore mother cell, tetrad, early microspore, late microspore, early bi-cellular pollen and late bi-cellular pollen were studied using periodic-acid-Schiff’s (PAS) technique to detect polysaccharides and Sudan black to determine lipid distribution in developing anthers.Anthers stored nutritional material at special times (early bi-celled pollen),special positions (vegetative cell of bi-celled pollen),and in special forms (starches and lipids). We determined the nutritional substances transported and transformed in different periods of anther development and clarified the regulation of nutritional substance accumulation during anther development.
