Abstract:Four compounds were isolated from the unripe fruit of Forsythia suspensa (Qinglianqiao). They were identified as phillyrin (Ⅰ), (+)-pinoresinol-β-D-glucoside (Ⅱ), forsythiaside(Ⅲ) and rutin (Ⅳ) on the basis of their analytical and spectroscopic data. Bacteriostatic experiments have shown that compounds (Ⅱ) and (Ⅲ) are bacteriostatic, compound (Ⅲ) being highly effective.
