Abstract:Three crystalline compounds were isolated from the root of Caragana intermedia (Leguminosae). On the basis of physical and chemical properties and spectroscopic analysis they were identified as 7-hydroxy-4‘-methoxyisoflavone (Ⅰ, formononetin), 7-hydroxy-3‘,4‘-methylenedioxyisoflavone (Ⅱ, ψ-baptigenin) and β-sitosterol respectively. Compound (Ⅱ) was found in this genus for the first time.
