摘 要 ：列举了大量试验数据对用大熊猫粪便中的竹子咬节长短估计大熊猫年龄和种群数量的方法提出了疑问 ,粪便中的竹子咬节长短和粪便直径与大熊猫年龄 (2岁以上 )没有相关关系 ,也没有找到任何非线性关系。粪便中的竹子咬节长短是大熊猫的一个个体特征 ,也是一个易受环境影响的变量 ,它的波动较大 ,作者认为在野外调查工作中用粪便中竹子咬节长短去预测年龄 (或年龄组 )和种群数量是不可能的。
