Abstract:The study was conducted in nutrient solution to investigate the protecting effects of exogenous hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) on the wheat seedlings damage by water stress. The results showed that exogenous 0.05 μmol·L-1 H2O2 significantly alleviated the injury to seedlings and markedly increased the seedlings plant height, root length, dry weight, the contents of GSH, AsA and the activities of SOD, POD and CAT. However, exogenous 0.05 μmol·L-1 H2O2 markedly decreased the MDA concentration and the production rate of O2-· in wheat seedling leaves under water stress. The results suggest that the treatment of H2O2 could restrain wheat seedlings lipid peroxidation by water stress and enhance anti-drought property of wheat seedlings.
