Abstract:In order to select superior strains, the 12 strains of Paecilomyces cicadae were tested on colony growth, sporulation yields, spore germination rate, UV- resistant ability, heat resistance and pathogenicity to aphids. Results showed that SL and 3L strains were superior to others judging from their colony growth, SL5 and FY in sporulation yields, FY and 3L in spore germination rate, FY and FJS in UV- resistant ability, 3L and 3716 in heat resistance, 3716, 3L and LB in pathogenicity (80.00% of pathogenicity achieved by spore and metabolite component). By comprehensive comparison, LB strain was selected as the most effective because of high pathogenicity, higher sporulation yield and higher tolerance.
