Abstract:The runoff in newly planting highyielding and fast growing plantation of Chinese fir was observed for 5 years. The results indicated that soil and water loss as a result of site preparation before afforestation mainly occurred in the first and second years. The liquid runoff of the fixed sample plot amounted to 9%～10% of the total rainfall in the first year, and then decreased gradually. The solid runoff mainly happened in the first and the second years, reduced obviously in the third year, and there was no solid runoff in the fourth year.
