speciesdiversity)andfunctionaltraitsofsubalpinemeadowsteppecommunitiesinpiedmontaluvialfanat
thevaleyofXincangvilage,DaziCountyatadrywarmvaleyoftheLhasaRiverBasin.Theeffectsof
differentintensitiesofdisturbanceinthecaseofgrazingexcludedaltheyearround,grazingexcludedonly
duringwarmmonthsandgrazedaltheyearroundoncommunitycharacteristics(communitystructureand
speciesdiversity)andfunctionaltraitswereinvestigated.Communityheight,abovegroundbiomassand
deadstandingmaterialsdecreasedsignificantlywithincreasingtheintensitiesofthedisturbance,while
communitycoveragehadnosignificantchanges.Excludedthedisturbanceintensitydifferences,thespecies
diversityhadnorelevancewiththefunctionaltraitsofplantheightandpalatability.Diversityofalspecies
andthepalatabilitywerenosignificantlycorrelatedwithdisturbanceintensity,reflectedbythespecies
richness,diversityindex,andevennessindex.However,functionaltraitsofplantheight,palatabilityde
creasedsignificantlywithincreasingtheintensitiesofthedisturbance.Theeffectsofdisturbanceintensi
tiesonfunctionaltraitsweremoresignificantthanspeciesdiversity.Theinnerlinkofspeciesdiversity,
functionaltraitsandecosystemfunctionaswelastheresponsetimeandmodelsofthethreetothediffer
entintensitiesofdisturbanceshouldbemorewidelydiscussedinfurtherstudies.
