Abstract:To test the toxicity of spore-crystal formulation of HBF-1 specific to larvae of several main scarabaeid species in North China, Bacillus thuringiensis suspensions mixed with sterilized fine soil containing potato pieces were used for feeding the larvae. The LC50 of HBF-1 crystal-spore powder to Popillia quadriguttata, Anomala exoleta, A.mongolica, A.corpulenta and Proagopertha lucidula were 3.104, 18.987, 30.924, 34.713 and 55.995 μg/g soil, respectively. Among them, P.quadriguttata was most sensitive to HBF-1. Plot experiment was conducted to control scarab larvae using HBF-1 SC in peanut field. The number of larvae decreased by 71.4%-75.4% at the 50 times dilution, and its nut-retention rate reached to 58.7%-72.9%, and the yield of the nut at 50 times dilution increased by 363.0-903.0 kg/hm2 compared to that of the control. After application, the insecticidal activity of HBF-1 in the lawn can persist for a longer period due to avoiding of ultraviolet irradiation, and its activity can keep 120 days after application.
