Abstract:A field experiment, under organic planting in greenhouse in suburb of Beijing, China, was carried out to study the effects of different water and organic fertilizer management practices on yield and quality of tomato and NO-3-N accumulations in soil profile. The results show that compared with local farmers‘ conventional management of water and manure, the yield of tomato are not decreased significantly under the half cut of manure inputs, while the quality of tomato fruit are improved due to the increases of the contents of soluble sugar, Vc and lycopene in the fruits, and concentration of NO-3-N, heavy metal content and organic acid in the fruits are reduced. Meanwhile accumulation of NO-3-N in soil profile is decreased observably. When the application of manure is stable, the water saving irrigation practices have the same results as well, however the effects are not remarkable. It is concluded that there is a great potential to reduce the application of water and manure under the current condition of overdose of organic fertilizer.
