Abstract:The male sterile effect of potassium ferricyanide treatment was examined on the anther of Phaseolus vulgaris L. during the mononuclear microspore phase under tissue cultural condition. The range of the effective concentrations of the reagent is from 0.1ppm to 0.5ppm. By the observations of histochemistry and SEM, we can make a conclusion that the effect of sterilization is related to the inhibition of the activity of peroxidase in tapetum and the formation of the exine.
