Abstract:An experiment in solar greenhouse was conducted to study the effects of different chemical fertilizer rates on physiological characteristics and yield of cucmber growing in organic substrate, and the control was planted in soil. The cultivar of cucmber was Xintaimici and the component of organic substrate was vermiculite and chicken muck and the ratio was 2∶1. The results showed that the cucumber cultivated in organic substrate was better than that in soil. The treatment with high rate of chemical fertilizer cucumber was well growth, the yield of cucumber fruits and the leaf photosynthetic rate and contents of vitamin C, soluble protein and soluble sugar in cucmber fruits were higher than that in the low rate treatment under the organic substrate culture condition. However, nitrate content in the cucumber fruits increased with the rate of chemical fertilizer increased.
